Bartho Caponi, MD, is a UW Health internal medicine doctor and a clinical professor in the Department of Medicine. Division of Hospital Medicine at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. Dr. Caponi is board-certified in internal medicine and cares for hospitalized patients over the age of 18. His goal is to help patients understand, manage and recover from their acute illnesses. He cares for people in hospital with a broad range of conditions, including septicemia (blood infection), heart failure, osteoarthritis, pneumonia and diabetes. Dr. Caponi is an award-winning teacher and clinician. He’s involved in inpatient teaching services, the Hospital Medicine Procedure Service and supports the UW Health’s Utilization Review and case management teams. He also chairs the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee. His special interests are acute care training for students and residents, utilization review issues and clinical leadership. I wanted to be a physician for as long as I can remember, and I love what I do. I strive to help people through a bad time with all the compassion and humanism they need and deserve.
