Anurag Soni, MD, is a UW Health gastroenterologist. He treats patients with diseases and disorders of the esophagus, stomach and intestines. He specializes in disorders that affect the pancreas, gall bladder and bile ducts. In his practice, Dr. Soni uses the latest diagnostic procedures to examine the bile ducts, esophagus and small intestine. He finds it very gratifying to detect a potential health concern through preventive care and screenings, including endoscopy and colonoscopy. It is incredibly rewarding when he can use early detection and treatment to restore his patients' quality of life. Dr. Soni strives to build trust with his patients from the very first appointment. By developing trust and empowering his patients through education, he finds that they’re better equipped to take part in their own healthcare. He also listens to his patients, both as a sign of respect and to learn useful clinical information to help with a diagnosis and treatment. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Soni is a professor in the Department of Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. His research focuses on therapeutic gastrointestinal endoscopy, endoscopic management of gastrointestinal malignancies, colorectal screening and outcomes research and medical decisions analysis. In his free time, Dr. Soni enjoys luxury cars and watching movies. Health care and medicine are a lifetime of learning. My years of experience help me be a better doctor and provide better patient care.
