About

Annie Sugar, PA, is a physician assistant at UW Health. She specializes in caring for patients with head and neck cancer.

Annie meets with patients after their first visit with a UW Health head and neck surgeon. She helps them to understand their diagnosis and surgical treatment plans. She is part of a  team that includes head and neck surgeons, radiation oncologists and medical oncologists. After surgery, radiation or chemotherapy, her patients may see speech pathologists and work with specialists in swallowing, speech and voice therapies, as well as occupational and physical therapy.

Annie understands the challenging nature of head and neck cancer and treatment. It can affect how a person looks, as well as their essential functions such as eating, swallowing, and speaking. Annie guides patients throughout the treatment process.

In her free time, Annie enjoys sailing with her husband on Lake Mendota, kite boarding and other water activities.

Head and neck cancer can affect how a person looks. It can also affect essential functions such as eating, swallowing and speaking. Having someone to help patients through the treatment process is really important.
