Alison Gegios, MD

About

Alison Gegios, MD, is a UW Health radiologist and an assistant professor in the Department of Radiology at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. As a breast imaging radiologist, Dr. Gegios focuses on detecting abnormalities that could be a sign of breast cancer.

She regularly reviews mammograms, breast MRIs and ultrasounds. She also performs breast biopsies and localizations (tests to identify the exact site of an abnormality) to investigate those test findings.

Dr. Gegios enjoys breast imaging because it allows her to use her analytical and problem-solving skills while she’s carefully reviewing images. Then, she can directly interact with patients when performing procedures that can positively impact their health.

Outside of work, Dr. Gegios enjoys spending time with her family and friends, traveling, learning new languages, cooking, baking and gardening.

What drew me to medicine is the blend of humanity, science and being able to help people in need.
