Acerca de
Alicia Barnes, NP, is a UW Health Kids nurse practitioner in neonatology. She cares for newborns in the hospital setting, including babies who are born early and those who need extra support right after birth. She works closely with many specialists to ensure that every child receives the highest level of care.
Alicia focuses on caring for newborns in the neonatal intensive care unit. She treats full term babies who need help adjusting after delivery as well as premature infants who may need support with breathing, feeding, growth or other early health challenges. She enjoys helping babies grow stronger each day.
Caring for newborns also means caring for their families so Alicia places great importance on keeping parents informed, involved and supported. She encourages families to join daily rounds, share what they observe and ask any questions they may have. She listens closely to parents because their insights often help guide care. Her approach is centered on patience, clear communication and working together as a team to give each baby the best chance to grow and thrive. Her goal for every child is to help them overcome early challenges and move forward with a healthy start.
