Aileen Bernardo, PT, is a UW Health physical therapist who has a doctorate in physical therapy. She evaluates and treats patients for a variety of orthopedic conditions that affect the body’s muscles, bones, joints and soft tissues.
Aileen treats many muscle and joint problems, also called musculoskeletal conditions. These include arthritis, chronic pain, scoliosis, disc bulge or herniation, sciatica, frozen shoulder, rotator cuff tears, bursitis, ACL and other knee ligament injuries, fractures, sprains and strains. She also provides post-surgical rehab after joint replacements, ligament repairs and after amputation. Her clinical interests include orthopedics, geriatrics and pediatrics with orthopedic conditions that do not require a pediatric specialist.
Aileen is a patient advocate who believes in patient centered care. She focuses on treating each person, not just the injury. She works to understand each patient’s goals and values, then builds a plan that supports healing, movement and daily life. She hopes every patient feels that they received compassionate care and left with education that helps them feel empowered and improves their quality of life.
Outside of work, Dr. Aileen is an avid reader and enjoys creative projects such as jewelry making, crocheting, light woodworking, sewing and cake decorating when she has the time.
