UW Health is the integrated health system of the University of Wisconsin-Madison and consists of seven hospitals and 80 outpatient sites including University Hospital, UW Health at The American Center, American Family Children's Hospital and UW Carbone Cancer Center. As a nationally recognized health system, UW Health partners with the UW School of Medicine and Public Health to fulfill our shared patient care, research, education and community service missions.

The affiliation between UW Health and SwedishAmerican will continue to bring northern Illinois greater access to medical specialties, research and physicians while continuing to provide excellent care for our patients.

Because branding takes time, the transition won’t happen all at once. The transition will happen over a period. You will first start to see the brand change on our employees’ ID badges and lab coats, on our website, advertising and on our building signage. Our colors and logo will change to reflect UW Health’s existing brand, look and feel.

No. Patients will continue to be seen at their existing clinics and by their existing providers. There will be no staff changes.

No. Patients will not see any changes in their insurance and billing.

You will continue to receive the same great care you have always expected from SwedishAmerican. Over time, you may notice changes to make your care even better, like enhanced medical technology, medical research and access to specialty care. These branding changes reflect our commitment to continuously enhance patient care in the northern Illinois region. It provides significant new investment in this community and respects the strong history and tradition of SwedishAmerican.
