CoolSculpting - Is it for You?
Advice from our Jeune Skin Care aestheticians:
While many of our patients have heard of CoolSculpting, we have found patients have many questions on how the Coolsculpting technology works, how long it takes to see results and what areas can be treated.
Since adding this widely popular service last spring at our new location, UW Health 20 South Park Plastic Surgery Clinic, we are helping our patients achieve great results. We thought we would provide some answers to the questions we most often get about this transforming treatment during our consultations.
Is This a New Technology, is it Safe?
Did you know CoolSculpting is the number one FDA approved non-invasive fat reduction treatment available?
Coolsculpting has been available for 10 years and there have been over 7 million treatments performed worldwide.
It is safe, effective and requires little to no downtime. Many of our patients return to work right after their treatment.
What is it, and How Does it Work?
Coolsculpting is a treatment to eliminate stubborn fat using Cryolipolysis, which simply means fat freezing. The applicator uses suction to draw in the tissue and then the cold is applied. This process creates the sculpting of the targeted area. The freezing causes the fat cells to die. Over time the cells break down and are naturally eliminated.
How Long Does it Take to See Results, and How Long do the Results Last?
You will start to see changes as soon as 1-3 months post-treatment. Results may take 6 months or more.
Once the fat cells are treated and eliminated, those same fat cells cannot return or enlarge with weight gain. It is important to note that this is not a weight loss solution. It is a treatment for removing stubborn fat deposits. Ideal candidates are those individuals who are near their ideal body weight, who have tried diet and exercise yet have areas that haven’t responded.
What Areas can be Treated?
The abdomen area is one of the most popular areas, however we are often asked by our skin care patients what can be done with the jawline and chin area. Treatment of this area can provide a firmer more youthful look.
CoolSculpting is FDA cleared for treatment of visible fat in the areas below:
- Flanks (sides/love handles)
- Thighs (inner and outer above the knee)
- Upper and lower back (bra fat)
- Submental (under chin)
- Submandibular (under the jawline)
- Beneath buttocks (banana roll)
How Much Does CoolSculpting Cost?
A customized plan is designed for each individual, as everyone’s body type is different. Pricing is determined by how many applicators are needed to achieve your desired results.
