
Sports Foundations (Ages 9-11)
Sports Foundations is designed for 9- to 11-year-olds, with the focus on learning and developing fundamental sport skills and refining fundamental movement skills.
The sports performance coaches, physical therapists and athletic trainers in UW Health Sports Medicine's Sports Performance program develop speed, strength and agility training programs for athletes of all ages and ability levels, with an emphasis on long-term athlete development. Following are programs offered this fall at UW Health at The American Center.

Sports Foundations is designed for 9- to 11-year-olds, with the focus on learning and developing fundamental sport skills and refining fundamental movement skills.
Developmental speed strength introduces training concepts for sprinting, change-of-direction agility, motor coordination and developmentally appropriate athletic strength training. Athletes will learn proper exercise and movement technique in preparation for training at the next level.
Competitive athletes require competitive training. Athletes learn advanced techniques in training, including plyometrics, speed development and athletic strength training for improved athleticism and sports performance.
The Volleyball Combine is a fun and informative session focusing on identification of both athletic and volleyball skills and qualities. Athletes will be assessed on their ability to express power, move and resist injuries specific to the sport of volleyball.
This session is designed to help high school athletes learn to perform the Olympic lifts (clean and jerk, snatch). The focus is on proper exercise technique to improve performance during their spring and summer lifting programs. Athletes who perform these complex lifts with better technique see better results.
Non-contact knee and ankle injuries can sideline athletes. Using the latest research and training techniques, this program focuses on learning proper landing, decelerating and cutting mechanics to improve speed and quickness while reducing the risk of common lower extremity injuries in field and court sports athletes.
This varying-intensity, Sports Performance program will help you improve your muscle strength, endurance and power in a fun and fast-paced environment.
Sign up for this 4-week strength training program specifically for the triathlete. In this program, we will cover athletic strength training concepts that assist with performance enhancement during your swim, bike, and run.
Individual
1-on-1 training is geared toward the high-performance athlete. Each session is designed specifically for the athlete's goals, sport and position.
