About

Ty Carroll, MD is a UW Health endocrinologist and a professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. He cares for people with a wide range of hormone-related conditions.

Dr. Carroll treats many endocrine disorders, including osteoporosis, thyroid problems, diabetes, pituitary gland conditions and adrenal gland disorders. His clinical focus includes caring for people with Cushing’s syndrome, adrenal nodules and pituitary tumors. He enjoys working with these conditions because they often require careful testing and problem solving and he values the chance to use science to understand a patient’s symptoms and guide effective treatment.

He believes strongly in partnering with patients and making sure they understand every step of their care. During each visit, he listens closely to a patient’s concerns, knowing that patients often provide the key details that help guide diagnosis and treatment. He takes time to explain why certain tests are needed and how treatment plans are developed. Dr. Carroll wants patients to feel informed, involved and confident about their care. He aims to address both the medical and emotional aspects of a diagnosis, offering reassurance whenever possible and helping patients focus on long term health goals.

Outside of work, Dr. Carroll enjoys playing hurling, a traditional Irish sport. He has played for many years, including time with a team in Milwaukee. He now takes part in an indoor league in Madison during the winter.

My aim is to address both the medical and emotional aspects of a diagnosis and helping patients focus on long term health goals.
