About

Shelby Beckman is a UW Health occupational therapist who specializes in evaluating and treating patients who are low vision and/or legally blind. She works with patients who have a variety of visual conditions including age-related macular degeneration, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, monocular vision loss, cataracts, optic nerve atrophy, retinopathies, and more. She also has experience working with children, adolescents and adults in a pediatric occupational therapy setting.

Shelby strives to create a welcoming and safe space for all her clients and believes in holistic, patient-centered care that considers all aspects of the patient to support their success within her services. She loves problem solving with patients and learning how their vision impacts participation in daily activities to find solutions and strategies tailored specifically to the patient.

Outside of work, Shelby enjoys crocheting, cooking, baking, reading, camping, and spending time with friends and family.

“My goal is to help patients with vision loss find ways to continue to participate in activities that are important to them so they can be as independent as possible.”
