About

Michael Risk, MD, PhD is a UW Health urologist. He cares for patients with urinary tract disorders, including enlarged prostate, kidney stones, erectile dysfunction and urinary incontinence. His area of specialty is urologic oncology (urinary tract cancers), including bladder, prostate and kidney cancer.

Dr. Risk is also an associate professor at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health in the Department of Urology.

Dr. Risk is excited about the increasing use of minimally invasive procedures to treat cancer patients, making it easier to individualize their care. He understands that some patients may be anxious or nervous about their first appointment. He educates his patients on their condition and treatment options, including benefits and adverse effects. This information helps them make appropriate decisions about their care. Dr. Risk says the most rewarding part of his job is the ability to treat or cure a patient’s cancer and restore a positive quality of life.

In his free time, Dr. Risk enjoys running and other outdoor activities.

My hope for each patient is that I can guide them down the path that leads to an improved quality or quantity of life.
