About

Matthew Wood, MD, is an inpatient hospitalist at UW Health.

Dr. Wood treats a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions for hospitalized patients. He works closely with other medical specialists, nursing staff and support teams to provide comprehensive care for patients — from initial diagnosis through management and follow-up care.

With a strong focus on providing compassionate, personalized care, Dr. Wood treats the whole person, not just their medical condition. He listens to people’s concerns and encourages them to be involved in their own care. After educating patients about their conditions and treatment options, Dr. Wood partners with them to develop a care plan that best meets their unique needs and preferences.

A strong desire to help people and positively impact their lives is what inspired Dr. Wood to become a physician. He finds it rewarding to use his knowledge and skills to alleviate people’s suffering and enjoys the challenge of continuously learning and improving.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Wood serves as an assistant clinical professor at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, Department of Medicine, Division of Hospital Medicine.

My goal is to provide high-quality, evidence-based care that is patient-centered, safe and effective.
