Physicians Plus, UW Health Announce New, Multi-Year Provider Contract

Madison, Wisconsin - Physicians Plus Insurance Corporation and UW Health are pleased to announce a new, four-year partnership. The new contract, effective January 1, 2015, guarantees that all UW Health providers and facilities, including UW Hospital and Clinics and American Family Children's Hospital, are included in the Physicians Plus provider network.

Both organizations have long-standing commitments of service to this community and of working together and are enthusiastic about enhancing their existing relationship.

"UW Health is committed to the health of the people in this community," said Michael Dallman, president of University Health Care, Inc., the contracting arm of UW Health. "This contract, which will allow more people to be seen by UW Health providers, is a win for us, PPIC and the community."

Under the new agreement, UW Health and Physicians Plus will partner more closely on effective and efficient medical management. This effort will provide greater value for members and patients and eliminate Physicians Plus's care navigation program/narrowing of the network, which will end for all plans on December 31, 2014.

"Physicians Plus and UW Health have worked together to serve south central Wisconsin for a long time. All at Physicians Plus are happy to expand upon our current relationship and once again guarantee access to all UW providers and facilities," said Tom Luddy, vice president and chief sales & marketing officer, Physicians Plus.

The ever-evolving local health care marketplace inspired further collaboration to expand a mutually beneficial relationship. Due to expanded patient access through Physicians Plus insurance plans, the providers of UW Health will continue fulfilling their mandate to serve the people of Wisconsin. And Physicians Plus will deliver a broader network of provider options to area employers and individuals. Most importantly, community access to care is increased.

In addition to UW Hospital and Clinics and UW Health physicians, the new contract continues to provide access to Chartwell (infusion therapy and home care); Generations (reproductive endocrinology care); the Madison Surgery Center; Transformations; Wisconsin Dialysis; and Wisconsin Sleep.
