Marketing Executive Selected for UW Health
Madison, Wisconsin – Chris J. Roth has been named vice president and chief marketing officer for UW Health in Madison, Wisconsin.
A seasoned executive in marketing and strategic business development, Roth comes to the role from UnitedHealth Group, a $200 billion company headquartered in Minnetonka, Minn. There, he most recently served as vice president of distribution marketing for UnitedHealthcare Global.
Before that, Roth served as vice president for solution marketing at Optum, a UnitedHealthcare company that provides data, analytics, pharmacy care, and population health management services to clients in the health care industry. His other past roles at UnitedHealthcare include regional vice president of marketing and small-business marketing director.
Roth's background also includes business planning and strategy development at Bank of America/LaSalle Bank, Blue Cross Blue Shield Association and Cap Gemini Ernst & Young, all in Chicago.
A graduate of the Farmer School of Business at Miami University in Ohio, he also earned an MBA in marketing, management and strategy, and finance from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
UW Health is the integrated health system associated with the University of Wisconsin-Madison. With seven hospitals in Wisconsin and northern Illinois, UW Health serves more than 600,000 patients each year in the Upper Midwest and beyond. Its flagship, University Hospital in Madison, is a Level 1 trauma center for both adults and children. UW Health has approximately 1,400 physicians and 16,500 staff at the hospitals and 80 outpatient sites.
At UW Health, Roth will manage the department of marketing and communications, which serves UW Health, the UW School of Medicine and Public Health and the UW Carbone Cancer Center.
