Treating the whole you
Designed to promote healthy communities, East Madison Hospital offers inviting spaces for a varied menu of wellness, fitness and Sports Performance programs.
The Learning Kitchen at East Madison Hospital is a fully-equipped classroom kitchen maintained by culinary and health care professionals who offer a wide variety of cooking classes for our community and our patients. The kitchen includes a four-top gas range with flattop and oven, refrigerator, microwave oven and a full set of cooking supplies.
These wellness techniques complement traditional medical care by focusing on the mind-body connection and the patient’s overall sense of well-being. Many patients who suffer from chronic pain or are going through difficult treatments relish the mental and physical healing aspects of these practices.
We offer classes on mindful meditation, a mental training practice that helps calm the mind and slow the racing thoughts that can increase stress. Meditation focuses the mind on being present by connecting with inner thoughts, emotions and bodily sensations. Those who practice mediation are often better equipped to cope with difficult circumstances and challenging people.
A special attraction at East Madison Hospital is a full-size indoor basketball court that is a replica of the original floor at the Kohl Center, home of the UW men’s and women’s basketball teams.
