Staff Updates at the Fitness Center
Most of our FC members and class participants know Lisa Milbrandt, a long-time FC staff member, class instructor, and pivotal cog in the growth of the Research Park's Sports Medicine Fitness Center.
Recently, Lisa was named the Manager of the UW Health Sports Medicine Fitness Center and Integrative Health departments. With this promotion, Lisa will also take on the management of the Research Park clinics’ front desk (11 employees and nearly 100 hours per week coverage).
Needless to say, this is a tremendous undertaking for any one individual. To free Lisa up for this position she is discontinuing her role as a Classes Program Team Leader.
Please join us in congratulating Lisa on her promotion and wishing her great success in guiding these programs over the years to come.
Jennifer Hockemeyer is a 4-year veteran of our Fitness Center staff as well as a busy and versatile instructor. And now she will add a couple of new titles.
First, Jennifer has accepted a Team Leader position for the Sports Medicine Center’s Exercise Classes program. Specifically, she will be filling Lisa Milbrandt’s position as Lisa takes on her new role.
As a Team Leader, Jennifer will oversee and manage numerous class programs. These include all Yoga, Pilates, Tai Chi, Feldenkrais, and Qigong classes. In addition, Jennifer will manage a handful of general exercise classes such as Strength and Flexibility and Mid-Day Movement.
Whew! That is a lot of programs. But Jennifer has a head start - she’s been teaching a bunch of these already! At least she already knows the instructor…
The second – and far more exciting – new title Jennifer will be getting this summer is Mom! In case you are one of the few who haven’t heard it yet (or haven’t seen her), Jennifer is expecting her first child this June.
Just as life gets a little bit busier/crazier around here for Jennifer, that’ll be nothing compared to the changes upcoming on the home front.
Wisely, Jennifer will be on leave from her new position as well as her teaching responsibilities over the summer. We’re confident that she’ll be a great mom. And a great Team Leader when she returns this fall!
Congratulations, Lisa and Jennifer! We wish you all the best with the upcoming changes.
