Zumba Classes at UW Health's Sports Medicine Fitness CenterZumba is an exercise class having the motto “Ditch the workout. Join the party!” Originating in Miami, Florida in 2001, Zumba fuses Latin rhythms and easy to follow moves to create a dynamic and energetic aerobic workout. No dance background is necessary. Anyone can join in. You just need to be willing to move and have fun!

The instructor, Marisela, has been teaching Zumba here for 10 years now. She really enjoys teaching since “Not only do you get a great workout but also have loads of fun!”

Marisela’s enthusiasm will shine through in class as she leads participants through routines that feature intervals of fast and slow rhythms to get them moving instantly. Marisela stresses that Zumba can be performed at the appropriate intensity level for any one.

Zumba is a workout for the entire body. From head and shoulders movements to loosen and warm up the upper body to footwork that strengthens and stretches calves and ankles, each Zumba routine works nearly every muscle and joint.

Jayme, a previous Zumba participant, says “There are times when I left work exhausted not thinking I want to go to class but attended and left invigorated and more upbeat. I’m always glad I went. It’s fun, a total body workout, and works your mind as well as your body.”

Are you ready for some fun? Want to join the party? Could Zumba be right for you? We think it could.

Zumba is offered on Wednesday evenings from 7:30–8:30pm. The Fall 2018 class season starts September 5th and runs 16 weeks. General public class registration is open now - register today!
