Class Spotlight: New this Fall

TRX is a new class at the UW Health Fitness CenterWe have been busy this summer investigating and preparing new class opportunities for this fall. Although some details still need to be finalized on one of these, we're excited to give you a brief preview of new class offerings arriving this fall. Most classes start the week of Sept. 9.

 

TRX Suspension Training: Dates and Times TBA

 

TRX is coming!

 

We strongly support the TRX Suspension Training philosophy of "training movements, not muscles" and are excited to bring these classes here. Look for our large class room to undergo modest structural changes to facilitate TRX suspension. We expect to be offering Introductory demo classes this fall! Dates and times TBA.

 

Indoor Cycling Advanced: Mondays, 6-7pm

 

Indoor Cycling Advanced is a high level class for the serious fitness enthusiast or cyclist. Above average fitness is a pre-requisite. This class uses the popular Saris Indoor bikes equipped with PowerTap technology, and will cultivate a deeper understanding of exercise physiology as it applies to training principles on the bike. Indoor training will translate to improved strength, efficiency and power when cycling outdoors. Starts Oct. 14.

 

Indoor Cycling Performance: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6-7:15pm

 

Indoor Cycling Performance is a high level class for the serious fitness enthusiast or competitive cyclist. Above average fitness and/or previous indoor cycling class experience are required. This class uses the popular Saris Indoor bikes equipped with PowerTap technology, and will enhance cycling specific fitness and translate to overall improved cycling performance. Both road and off-road cyclists welcome. Starts Oct. 15

 

Alignment Yoga: Wednesdays, 7:15-8:15am; Saturdays, 11:30am-12:30pm

 

Alignment Yoga is our newest integrative practice offering. This class is taught by Lisa Atkins, PT, a trained Alignment Yoga instructor. This class will emphasize finding the correct positioning in both stationary and dynamic yoga poses.

 

Mid-Day Movement: Tuesdays, 11:30am-12:30pm

 

Mid-Day Movement is the popular strength and flexibility class, will be adding a new Tuesday session. This additional offering will allow more participants to get into this increasingly popular class.

 

Tai Chi Fundamentals: Wednesday, 5:20-6pm
8-Week session runs Oct. 2 - Nov. 20

 

Tai Chi Fundamentals is a great opportunity to ease into the wonders of Tai Chi. This short course will introduce you to the basic movements, techniques and philosophies of Tai Chi practice. These movements can be used as a practice in themselves or as preparation for learning a Tai Chi form.
