UW Sports Medicine Symposium

Join us for the 45th annual symposium to grow professionally, exchange ideas with colleagues and learn new techniques. Symposium content will include topics such as: treating the Female athlete, spondylolysis and spondylolisthesis in the athlete, swimming biomechanics and injury reduction and diversity, equity and inclusion in sports, along with other topics.

Keynote speaker

Courtney Gleason, MD

Director, Emory Sports & Orthopedics Female Athlete Program

Courtney Gleason, MD, is a non-operative sports medicine physician. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Notre Dame and earned her medical degree from the University of South Carolina and a non-operative sports medicine fellowship at Boston Children’s Hospital.

In addition to serving as the director of Emory’s Female Athlete Program, she is head team physician for Agnes Scott College, team physician for the Atlanta Dream and a physician for the Atlanta Ballet. She enjoys treating athletes of all ages and skill level. Her special interests include working with dancers and aesthetic athletes and runners. She is interested in bone health, bone stress injuries, overuse injuries, relative energy deficiency in sports and female athlete attrition. She also works female athletes to optimize performance, minimize injury risk, and keep them active and continue playing sports.

Founded in 1978, the UW Sports Symposium is presented by UW Health Sports Medicine and the University of Wisconsin-Madison Interprofessional Continuing Education partnership (ICEP). Our goal is to provide you the latest information on diagnosis, prevention and treatment of athletic related medical conditions and musculoskeletal injuries.
