Mobile Texting (SMS/MMS)

UW Health offers several mobile messaging programs. Frequency of messages may vary. Users may opt-in or out of receiving messages at any time. If you do not wish to continue participating in the program or no longer agree to the Terms and Conditions you can reply STOP to any mobile messages from us to opt out of the program.

Please ensure you review the Terms and Conditions before participating in the programs.

Your privacy is extremely important to us. We will only use information you provide through the programs to transmit your mobile messages and respond to you, if necessary. This includes, but is not limited to, sharing information with platform providers, phone companies (carriers), and other vendors who assist us in the delivery of mobile messages.


Nonetheless, we reserve the right at all times to disclose any information as necessary to comply with any applicable law, regulation or governmental request, and to avoid liability, or to protect our rights or property to the extend permitted by law.

When you complete forms online or otherwise provide us information in connection with the program, you agree to provide accurate, complete, and true information. You agree not to use a false or misleading name or a name that you are not authorized to use. If, in our sole discretion, we believe that any such information is untrue, inaccurate, or incomplete, or you have opted into the program for an ulterior purpose, we may refuse you access to the program and pursue any appropriate legal remedies.

This SMS/MMS Privacy Policy is limited to the program and has no effect on any other privacy policy(ies) that may govern the relationship between you and us in other contexts.

This policy covers UW Health’s website, including all subdomains of * (“Sites”):   

The privacy of your information is important to us. This privacy policy describes our privacy practices in connection with information we collect through these Sites. It does not apply to information obtained from other sources such as information received via the mail. Terms such as “we”, “our” or “us” refer to UW Health, which includes the University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics Authority, the University of Wisconsin Medical Foundation, Inc. and affiliated entities. 

If you use these Sites, you agree to the terms of this privacy policy and UW Health’s Terms and Conditions. By using these Sites, you assume full responsibility for use of any information by UW Health. 

Personally identifiable information

We may collect and use personal information that identifies you that you voluntarily give us if you use these Sites. The personal information may include your name, address, telephone number, e-mail address, date of birth, age, gender, financial and payment information and any other information you choose to provide to us. We will use the personal information we collect for the purposes for which you provided it (to register for classes or programs, purchase memberships and obtain other services), to contact you regarding programs or services, process payments, provide information we believe may be of interest to you, manage programs and services and to improve your experience as a user of our programs and services and these Sites.   

We may use your personally identifiable information if we believe the law requires it, to comply with legal process such as a court order or other process. We may use third party suppliers or service providers to help us collect, process, maintain and analyze this personally identifiable information. We may also use third party suppliers to host these Sites and gather and use information for the purposes for which you provided it to us. However, we require such services providers to maintain the confidentiality of the information. We do not sell names or other personally identifiable information. You can choose whether to provide personally identifiable information, but you may not be able to use these Sites if you do not provide it.   

Non-Personally identifiable information 

When you visit these Sites, we (or a third-party vendor or contractor on our behalf) automatically collect certain non-personally identifiable information about your device and interactions with these Sites, such as the following:  

  • Website from which you arrived 

  • Operating system name and version (Windows 10) 

  • Web browser name and version (Google Chrome v86)  

  • Date and time of your visit 

  • Pages you visit on these Sites 

  • Terms you use in our Sites search engines  

We use cookies (small text files that collect information about website activity) and web beacons (small image files that monitor web activity). The use of cookies and web beacons can help us improve your enjoyment of these Sites, for example, by remembering your address or other information when you request information or services on these Sites and identifying the pages that are most popular. We may also use cookies and/or web beacons to show you relevant advertisements when visiting other websites based on your usage of these Sites. We also use the information we collect for usage analytics. In addition to our use of technologies as described herein, we may permit certain third party companies to help us tailor advertising that we think may be of interest to you based on your use of UW Health Sites and/or Services and to otherwise collect and use data about your use of UW Health Sites and/or Services.  

You may opt out of the Google advertising cookies by visiting the Google advertising opt-out page or you may opt out of Google Analytics by visiting the Google Privacy & Terms page. Google has additional information available about their Remarketing Privacy Guidelines and Restrictions. 

Links to other websites 

These Sites may contain links to other websites, which may have different privacy practices and policies. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of any third-party website. You should review the privacy policy of every website before using the website or providing information. 

Children’s privacy 

We do not request, seek or intentionally collect personal information from children. Parents or legal guardians are responsible for determining the appropriate content for their children and to monitor access and use of these Sites. 

Privacy policy updates 

We may change this privacy policy from time to time without prior notice to you. If we change this privacy policy, a new privacy policy that reflects the changes will be posted, with the date it was updated. Please check this page periodically for changes.
