Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

As a part of the Rockford area’s largest birthing center, our highly specialized Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) provides care for the tiniest or ill babies who might need around-the-clock care to grow and mature.

We care for the unexpected and the expected. If your baby arrives before 32 weeks or weighs less than 3.5 pounds, your child will likely be cared for in our NICU. Led by our team of experienced neonatologists, we use specialized monitoring equipment and work with experts in nutrition, imaging and pharmacy to support your baby moving to the next phase of growth.

Stays in our NICU often range from a few days to weeks. Our team supporting you and your baby in those first phases of life include our neonatologists, social workers, occupational therapists, child life specialists, NICU nurses and lactation consultants.

Our 32-bed unit includes suites for twins and triplets, special warming beds and highly specialized equipment to monitor and support your baby’s needs. If your baby requires more specialized care, our Level IV NICU at American Family Children’s Hospital is just up the road in Madison, Wis.
