Peter Newcomer, MD, Chief Ambulatory Medical Officer, UW Health

As Chief Clinical Officer for UW Health, Dr. Newcomer provides physician leadership for the operations of our clinical care delivery system with a primary mission to ensure the delivery of high quality services in the context of the sophistication and complexity of a major academic and research center.  He is responsible for providing a clear sense of strategic direction and leadership for clinical care, to ensure that UW Health meets the Quadruple Aim of great patient care and improving population health within an efficient cost structure while at the same time improving the job satisfaction of our clinical teams. He works in partnership the UW Health Chief Operating Officer and Chief Nursing Executive to provide oversight for the clinical delivery system. Prior to assuming his current role, Dr. Newcomer served for two years as UW Health's Chief Ambulatory Medical Officer.  


A board-certified internist, Dr. Newcomer earned his medical degree at UW Medical School then completed his internship and residency training at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. In addition, he holds a master's degree in medical management from Carnegie Mellon University.
