About University Health Care, Inc.

University Health Care, Inc. (UHC), is the entrepreneurial arm of UW Health. A not-for-profit membership corporation, UHC serves as a network development vehicle by developing regional programs and clinical centers, and developing business relationships with other health care providers.

UHC's regional outreach programs bring the services of UW Health to key communities and enhance relationships with regional physicians and other health care providers. These services include on-site clinical consultations, a physician liaison program, outreach continuing education and other hospital and clinical affiliations.

Managed Care Contracting

Connecting with insurers, employers and other health care organizations

The UW Health Managed Care Contracting Department negotiates managed care contracts with insurers, employers and other health care organizations, offering a regional health care system linked to the multiple resources of UW Health.

UW Health holds more than 90 managed care agreements to deliver primary and specialty health care services locally, regionally and nationwide. UW Health contracts on behalf of University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics (UWHC)University of Wisconsin Medical Foundation (UWMF)University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health (UWSMPH)UW Health Care DirectGenerations Fertility Care (GFC)Madison Surgery Center (MSC)Transformations Surgery Center (TSC)UW Health Rehabilitation Hospital (UWRH)Wisconsin Sleep Inc. UW Health Orientation Manual

The UW Health Orientation Manual includes information to assist payers in administering their agreements, including descriptions of services and resources available within the UW Health system. It also helps clarify billing practices and payment processes.

When reviewing the enclosed information, please be aware there may be instances in which not programs or providers are included within contractual agreements. Please be sure to check your contract language for additional details or contact your Managed Care Account Manager.

Provider Relations Coordinator

An advocate for referring providers

The Provider Relations Coordinator is a hospital based advocate for referring providers, their staff, referral coordinators and health plan staff.

The Provider Relations Coordinator is available to assist you with:

  • Information about UW Health providers, specialty clinics, procedures and any information needed to access the services available

  • Assistance with navigation and maneuvering UW Health services

  • Assistance with referrals

  • Assistance with communication and access issues

  • Special inquiries regarding service

  • Providing clinical reports

  • Assistance with special problems and complaint resolution

  • Providing resource information such as provider directories, contact numbers

The Provider Relations Coordinator is available Monday through Friday, 7:30am-4pm.

Regional development

Supporting goals

UHC Regional Services supports the organization's educational, patient care, research and outreach goals.

Through Regional Development, a variety of programs are available to share the resources and expertise of UW Health with physicians, hospitals, allied health professionals and communities throughout Wisconsin and surrounding states.

Programs and services include:

  • Technical consultation (pharmacy, technology/PACS assessments, clinical protocol development, etc.)

Enterprise Analytics provides information management and analytic services for the purposes of organizational performance measurement and business development. Major focus areas include:

  • Regional and market strategy, program analysis and business planning support

  • Patient experience measurement and analysis

  • Analytic support for clinical program business development

  • Regional strategy and program analysis, and business planning support
