Nathaniel Brooks, MD, is a UW Health neurosurgeon. He specializes in the care and surgical treatment of people with spine disorders. These include herniated or slipped disks, tumors and spinal stenosis. Stenosis happens when the spinal canal narrows and pinches the nerves and spinal cord. He also treats scoliosis, an abnormal sideways spinal curvature.
As a spine specialist, Dr. Brooks performs advanced surgical techniques, including minimally invasive and traditional open surgery. He uses the least invasive surgical method possible to treat his patients safely and effectively.
During office visits, Dr. Brooks works to learn as much as possible about his patients’ symptoms to make an accurate diagnosis. He believes that listening to his patient’s goals and concerns is critical and takes this information into account when he creates a treatment plan.
In addition to patient care, Dr. Brooks serves as an associate professor at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, Department of Neurological Surgery. He researches issues surrounding traumatic spinal cord injuries and minimally invasive spine surgery.
When not treating patients, Dr. Brooks enjoys spending time with his family.
I work to correct my patients’ spine problems so they can feel better and live a happy, functional life.
Dr. Brooks' research interests include spine surgery outcomes, sports-related spine injuries, brain injury and spinal cord injury and minimally invasive spine surgery.
