When visiting a patient at UW Health Rehabilitation Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin, please respect the needs of all of our patients.
Unless you are specifically asked to attend a therapy session, we ask that you refrain from visiting in the therapy rooms. These rooms are very busy during the day and it is important for our patients to be able to focus their attention on the skills being taught.
For our patients' health and yours, it is important that you wash your hands upon entering and leaving the room. Hand sanitation dispensers are available at the entrance to each patient room. If you are feeling sick, we ask that you refrain from visiting.
When Are Visiting Hours at UW Health Rehabilitation Hospital?
While we do not generally limit the times during which visits may occur, it is important to remember that our patients are in our hospital for rehabilitative care, and the majority of their daily schedule will be occupied with rehab services. As such, we recommend that visitors come either at lunch time, or in the late afternoon/early evening.
Because rest is important, we also recommend that visitations be completed by 9pm.
For Primary Support Persons
Most often can come at any time, based on the wishes of patients
8am-9pm, except in special situations
|Must be at least 18 years old||
An adult must be present with all visitors under 16 years old
|Due to space limits, in most cases only one support person is allowed to spend the night in a patient’s room||Anyone who visits after 9pm must wear a badge and be approved by the staff on the unit caring for the patient|
Who Should Not Visit?
There are times when people should not visit you in the hospital. This includes if the visitor or primary support has been exposed to an infection or illness, including:
- Active tuberculosis
- Acute respiratory illness
- Pertussis (whooping cough)
- Certain skin infections
People who have been exposed to these illnesses should check with their doctor to see if they can get or spread the illness. If so, they should not come to visit for three weeks from the time they were exposed. For any health condition where the safety of visiting is uncertain, they should check with their doctor or your nurse.
