The UW Health Heart Transplant Program in Madison, Wisconsin serves patients with heart failure and advanced heart disease. We are a Center of Excellence for most insurance networks, a certified ECHMO Center of Excellence and a Veterans Affairs-approved center for ventricular assist devices and heart transplantation.
Our highly experience team has performed more than 800 heart transplants. Our wait times are among the shortest in the nation, and we’re transplanting patients with ventricular assist devices faster than other programs in the Midwest. We are the only program in Wisconsin performing open and minimally invasive mechanical assist device implantation. Our team cares for patients throughout their life and know what they need to avoid rejection and retain their new organ.
