Maple Pumpkin Hummus


Pumpkin gets its orange coloring from skin-friendly carotenoids, healthy antioxidants that help prevent damage to cells that lead to signs of aging. Pumpkin also has hydrating properties and is packed with powerful enzymes and alpha hydroxy acids, which increase cell turnover to help brighten and smooth your skin.


Take advantage of one of fall's most common staples by whipping up a batch of this delicious, healthy Maple Pumpkin Hummus from the UW Health Learning Kitchen - it's a unique option to bring to a football party instead of chips and dip (pair the hummus with cinnamon pita chips for a crowd-pleasing appetizer).



  • 15 oz. can garbanzo beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 ½ cups pumpkin puree
  • ½ cup maple syrup
  • 1 Tbsp pumpkin pie spice
  • Dash coarse salt
  • 2 Tbsp. extra virgin olive oil



Place garbanzo beans, pumpkin puree, maple syrup, pumpkin pie spice and salt in a food processor and process until smooth. Drizzle in olive oil until combined and hummus is creamy. Taste and adjust seasoning, if necessary.


Serve with cinnamon tortilla chips or pita chips.
