More about the program

You know what to do and how to do it. Or, maybe you're new to exercise and unsure of where to start. Either way, you're discouraged because you're not making any progress.

You may think that one solution is to hire a personal trainer. But, you may not be able to justify spending the money to have someone motivate you on a daily basis, much less count every single rep and set.

There is another option. Performance Edge Coaching Service offers individuals a way to map their own training regimen with the guidance of an exercise physiologist coach. Whether you're an average person wanting to get fit, a mildly serious weekend warrior or a competitive athlete, Performance Edge may be for you.

Below, client Lee Hull shares his experience with Performance Edge:

How did you hear about the Performance Edge Coaching Service?

My nephrologists suggested that I use a trainer. He suggested I call the UW Health Fitness Center.

What attracted you to the program?

The staff at the UW Health Fitness Center was much more experienced and knowledgeable than traditional personal trainers. I did not need help with working out, but I needed someone to help me plan and adjust my workouts over time. My age, health and goals seemed too complicated for traditional trainers.

What makes Performance Edge unique?

I made more progress in the first four months than the past seven months working out on my own.

Can you share more about your personal story and how that played a role in choosing Performance Edge?

Kidney disease sidelined me for many years and heart disease runs in my family. I was bored going to the gym with no real goals besides exercising. My progress was very slow on my own. Since participating with Performance Edge, my resting heart rate has dropped from 73 to 49 beats per minute and my blood pressure is lower than ever. I can do more pull ups now than I could when I was on active duty. The biggest thing I have learned is patience and periodization.

Would you recommend Performance Edge to others?

Absolutely, the program is very affordable for the quality of help and services provided. For me, it was very helpful to have someone to talk to and ask questions. It is also a great time saver compared with planning and tracking your own workouts.

While Lee's story is unique and based on his specific needs and interests, hiring a Performance Edge coach will help you reach your fitness goals.
