UW Health Sports Programs Team Up for PGA Hopeful
Blake's dream is to play on the PGA Tour and he's using the expertise of UW Health's sports performance, rehabilitation and medicine programs to get there. The team is located at UW Health at The American Center so they all work together to help Blake reach his goal.
Golf Performance Program
Blake worked with golf performance program manager, Dave Knight, LAT, TPI-MP3. The performance program doesn't focus on swing mechanics specifically but rather how the body works to swing a golf club. It's designed for anyone who wants to improve their golf game by working on their physical ability to swing a golf club.
UW Health Sports Rehabilitation
Blake also worked with sports physical therapist Kirk Schultz, PT, TPI-MP2 for his knee, hip and back pain.
Hip Preservation Surgery
When conservative rehabilitation therapy wasn't helping Blake to progress, Kirk referred him to hip preservation specialist, Andrea Spiker, MD. She performed hip arthroscopy surgery to remove bone to allow him to move better and repaired his labrum.
Following the surgery, Blake went back to sports rehabilitation with Kirk and after that he transitioned to the golf performance program.
With UW Health's sports teams' expertise and Blake's hard work, he is ready to shine in the competitive spotlight.
