Courageous kids facing tough challenges
The children we care for do amazing things.
When a bulge appeared in then three-month-old Kingston's abdomen, no one realized the journey he would undertake. From a rare diagnosis, severe infections and a kidney transplant at the age of two, Kingston beat a lot of odds. As one of his physician's said, "We don't really use the word 'miracle' in medicine, but Kingston is a miracle."
Mary Briggs-Pomo remembers how scary her son’s health was almost from the moment he was born 10 years ago. But thanks to a whole team of pediatric specialists that listened and took her concerns seriously, she has answers and a happy, giggly, cuddly little boy.
Elliot conquers transposition VSD
Elliot's parents had a lot to manage when they knew they were expecting triplets. Then they found out Elliot had a condition called transposition VSD and would need major heart surgery shortly after birth. Our specialists helped them develop a plan of care for the triplets’ births, Elliot’s care until surgery and going home to have all the brothers together.
