Specialty clinics and care
Endocrine and metabolic disorders affect each person differently, but they have one thing in common: They prevent your body from functioning as intended and keep you from feeling your best.
UW Health endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism services work with you to get you the care you need. If you have an endocrine or metabolic disorder, you can rely on our specialty clinics and services to help.
Our services
The goal of this clinic is to prevent fractures caused by osteoporosis and other metabolic bone diseases. The clinic focuses on nutrition, physical activity and social factors that contribute to these health issues. We also address links to medical conditions and medications.
Pituitary tumors develop in a gland found in your brain. Usually these tumors aren’t cancerous. However, they can affect hormone levels and have a big impact on your well-being. Our Pituitary Tumor Clinic focuses on the diagnosis and management of these tumors.
Diabetes is a disease that results when your body has trouble making or using insulin. Insulin is a hormone that helps sugar from the foods you eat (glucose), enter your cells and provide energy. We manage diabetes with diet, exercise and medication. Through classes, support and online resources, we help you take charge of your health.
Conditions and treatments
Improving how your body works, helping you feel better
Our endocrinologists treat conditions that affect your endocrine glands and the hormones the glands make. These conditions include common diseases such as diabetes and thyroid disease, in addition to rare disorders.
We also treat disorders of metabolism. These deal with the chemical processes that take place in your body to help sustain life. Metabolic conditions can cause you to have too much or too little of the substances you need to be healthy and function well.
You will need a referral from your primary care provider to see one of our specialists.
