Walid A. Farhat, MD, is a pediatric urologist at UW Health and a professor at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine, Department of Urology where he serves as the chief of the Division of Pediatric Urology. He specializes in minimally invasive surgery in children and reconstructive pediatric urology.
Dr. Farhat has conducted extensive research in urinary bladder tissue engineering. He’s particularly interested in the collaboration between engineers and surgeons to enhance and improve surgical tools in minimally invasive surgery.
In his current research, Dr. Farhat is collaborating with experts in the Department of Psychology to better understand how hormones impact anatomy and overall mental health and well-being.
Finally, Dr. Farhat leads various global health initiatives, including collaborating with surgeons in other countries to enhance surgical skills and improve patient outcomes.
