About

Virginia Evans, PA, is a physician assistant specializing in gastroenterology at UW Health. She cares for patients with a variety of general gastrointestinal (GI) disorders. These digestive system disorders can range from heartburn, nausea and upset stomach to inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).

Virginia has a special interest in celiac disease, also called gluten intolerance. She understands the challenges of this GI condition, which triggers an abnormal immune reaction to gluten — proteins in processed wheat and other grains. Virginia grew up seeing how celiac disease affected the lives of close family members with this condition. Now, she helps people manage celiac disease and other autoimmune and digestive disorders.

Virginia works closely with gastroenterologists and other specialists to evaluate and treat patients. She listens to her patients’ concerns and offers them opportunities to be actively involved in their care. Virginia also partners with GI and pregnancy experts at UW Health as part of a program focused on pregnancy-related GI disorders.

In her free time, Virginia enjoys gardening and watching novel educational programs. She also enjoys traveling.

I like connecting with the patients and hearing their stories. It’s rewarding to see what we can do to improve their lives.
