Vaishalee Kenkre, MD, is a UW Health hematologist and an associate professor in the Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology, Medical Oncology and Palliative Care at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health.
Dr. Kenkre treats patients with all types of lymphoma, a blood cancer, including Hodgkin lymphoma and non-Hodgkin lymphoma. As part of the cellular therapy group team, she provides care for people who need a bone marrow transplant or CAR T-cell therapy.
Dr. Kenkre finds the field of hematology to be a fulfilling specialty because she can help people through their treatment. Though the care she provides is very clinical, she believes compassion is key. She enjoys getting to know each of her patients in order to tailor their care to best meet their needs and preferences.
In addition to her clinical and teaching roles, Dr. Kenkre is involved with clinical research trials for people with lymphoma.
In her free time, Dr. Kenkre enjoys traveling and spending time with her children.
Even though the medical part of what I do is very clinical, getting to know each person’s experiences and expectations allows me to tailor their care to fit their unique needs.
Dr. Kenkre is part of the Lymphoma Disease-Oriented Work Group, which focuses on improving therapeutic options for patients with lymphoma. She is interested in drug development and novel therapeutics for patients with lymphoma and improving outcomes for those patients undergoing bone marrow transplantation.
