Toby Campbell, MD, is an oncologist at UW Health where he treats people with lung cancer and serves as the chief of palliative care medicine supporting patients and families facing serious illness. At the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, Department of Medicine, Dr. Campbell is a professor of medicine within the Division of Hematology, Medical Oncology and Palliative Care.

Dr. Campbell believes people who experience serious illnesses such as cancer deserve special care and attention. He entered the fields of oncology and palliative care to provide the highest quality care to patients. Dr. Campbell collaborates closely with other specialists, such as palliative care providers, nutritionists and social workers, to provide comprehensive cancer care treatment.

His clinical research interests include lung cancer therapeutics, chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy and symptom management. Dr. Campbell is also interested in helping doctors guide patients in making important health care decisions, including having end-of-life discussions. He has created communication tools and methods to help physicians more effectively communicate with patients and their families to make those critical health care decisions.
