About

Thomas Brazelton, MD, MPH, is a pediatric critical care physician at UW Health and a professor at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, Department of Pediatrics, Division of Critical Care, where he also serves as the vice chair of quality. He cares for children in the cardiac intensive care unit (ICU) where he works to optimize the care for children with congenital and acquired heart disease.

Dr. Brazelton’s research focuses on improving care quality, patient safety and finding the gaps in patient care. By studying patient transitions from different facilities, he wants to prevent patients from falling through the cracks.

In his free time, Dr. Brazelton enjoys walking his three dogs. He also likes to cook and travel.

My philosophy toward patient care is the earlier we get to the patients, the better their outcomes. So early intervention, especially in critically ill children, is crucial. And once in our care, no preventable harm should come to them. My hope for each patient is for the best possible outcomes so that they recover not just in body but in spirit.
