Dr. McDonald attended medical school at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine and completed his residency at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics. He is certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and also holds a certification in neonatal resuscitation from the American Academy of Pediatrics. He is a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Dr. McDonald enjoys working with UW Health and the UW-Madison Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology alongside outstanding colleagues and patients who are dedicated to health care, education and state-of-the-art research.
Clinical areas of particular interest to Dr. McDonald include contraceptive counseling, teen pregnancy, vaginal surgery, robotic hysterectomy and endometriosis removal, pregnancy loss, dilation and evacuation, vulvar disease and colonoscopy. His research interests revolve around quality improvement in contraception. He serves as assistant residency director for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, responsible for resident rotation learning objectives and implementing feedback systems.
