Petros Anagnostopoulos, MD, MBA, FACS

Petros Anagnostopoulos, MD, MBA, FACS, is a UW Health Kids pediatric cardiothoracic surgeon and a professor in the Department of Surgery, Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. He provides surgical treatment for children who have congenital heart conditions (problems that exist from birth). He also performs adult congenital heart surgery.

Dr. Anagnostopoulos treats a range of congenital heart conditions, including holes inside the heart, blockages inside the heart and complex malformations where part of the heart has not developed correctly. He has special clinical interests in aortic valve replacements and complex congenital heart disease in newborns.

Dr. Anagnostopoulos believes in a team approach to care and involves families in the decision-making process. He listens with compassion and connects with families to make them feel comfortable during difficult circumstances. He provides information that is easy to understand and empowers families to advocate for their children.

In addition to his clinical practice and teaching role, Dr. Anagnostopoulos conducts clinical outcomes research to evaluate the results of surgical procedures performed on children.

In his free time, Dr. Anagnostopoulos enjoys distance running, scuba diving and spending time with his family.
