About

Peiman Hematti, MD, is a hematologist at UW Health and a professor at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology, Medical Oncology and Palliative Care. Dr. Hematti also serves as the director of the Clinical Hematopoietic Cell Processing Laboratory and medical director of the Apheresis and Hematopoietic Cell Collection facility at University Hospital. Dr. Hematti specializes in bone marrow transplantation, hematopoietic (blood) stem cell therapies, graft versus host disease and other post-transplant immunological conditions.

Dr. Hematti strives to help people in any capacity he can. He treats his patients like family and dedicates his time to discovering and implementing advanced therapies.

In addition to clinical care, Dr. Hematti also researches innovative methods to improve the outcome of bone marrow transplantation and expand the use of CAR T-cell therapies. He has contributed to numerous studies on novel cellular therapies for cancer treatment and the use of stem cells in regenerative medicine. Dr. Hematti holds several patents in the field of macrophage cell therapy. His work has been featured in publications including Blood, Journal of Clinical Oncology and Experimental Hematology. Along with several colleagues, Dr. Hematti received the 2017 Innovation of the Year Award from the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation (WARF) for developing therapeutic cells for tissue-specific repair.
