Matthew Kalscheur, MD

Matthew Kalscheur, MD, is a UW Health cardiac electrophysiologist and an assistant professor in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine within the Department of Medicine at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health.

Dr. Kalscheur specializes in diagnosing and treating cardiac arrhythmias (electrical disorders of the heart that create a heart rate that is either too slow or too fast).

Dr. Kalscheur most commonly cares for patients with atrial fibrillation (AFib) and ventricular arrhythmia. His clinical practice includes minimally invasive catheter procedures and the implantation and management of cardiac devices such as pacemakers and defibrillators, including leadless pacemakers and subcutaneous ICDs (under the skin implantable cardio converter-defibrillators).

In addition to his clinical work and teaching position, Dr. Kalscheur conducts research to determine the best ways to use cardiology data to predict disease outcomes.

In his free time, Dr. Kalscheur enjoys traveling and spending time with his wife and three children.

My philosophy towards patient care is to get to know each patient first — where they’re from, what they’re like and what they care about. All of that factors into how I care for that patient.
