Mark Albertini, MD

Mark Albertini, MD, is a UW Health medical oncologist (cancer doctor) specializing in melanoma skin cancers. He’s also a professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health.

Dr. Albertini treats patients with cancers at risk of spreading, and advanced cancers that aren’t responding to standard treatment. He helps patients understand their condition and treatment options, including immunotherapy and other advances in melanoma care. Dr. Albertini sees patients before and after surgery and throughout their cancer journey.

Understanding cancer’s emotional impact, Dr. Albertini encourages patients to replace uncertainty with hope based on knowing they’re getting the best care. He collaborates with other medical professionals to help patients benefit from the latest treatments and insights so they can live longer and better-quality lives.

Dr. Albertini is a nationally known melanoma researcher who leads treatment, research studies and clinical trials at the University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center. He studies ways to get the immune system to fight cancer. He also leads clinical trials to study therapies for patients with treatment-resistant cancers.

Outside of work, Dr. Albertini enjoys biking, cross-country skiing and spending time with his family.
