About

Laura Curran, NP, is a UW Health nurse practitioner who specializes in cardiovascular medicine. She cares for adults who have a range of heart and valve disorders.

Laura diagnoses and treats conditions such as coronary artery disease (CAD), valvular heart disease, heart failure and arrhythmias (irregular heartbeats) like atrial fibrillation (AFib). She also helps patients manage chronic (long-term) conditions that could lead to heart disease, such as hypertension (high blood pressure) and hyperlipidemia (high cholesterol).

Laura is motivated by the opportunity to enhance her patients’ quality of life and takes a patient-centered approach to care. She gets to know her patients as individuals, not just medical diagnoses. She educates them about their conditions and treatment options and then partners with them to make medical decisions that best meet their unique needs and goals.

Outside of work, Laura enjoys spending time with her family, being outdoors, exercising and playing the violin — which she has been playing since she was 3 years old.

I think listening to patients is the most important thing we can do as providers.
