Kelly Lavin, MD

About

Kelly Lavin, MD, is a UW Health internal medicine doctor and a clinical associate professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. She provides comprehensive primary care for adults, ages 18 and older.

Dr. Lavin diagnoses and treats acute (sudden) illnesses and minor injuries and helps patients manage chronic health conditions such as diabetes and hypertension (high blood pressure). She also provides preventive care such as health screenings and performs minor in-office procedures such as joint aspirations (drainage using a needle), injections and skin biopsies (removing a small tissue sample for lab analysis).

Dr. Lavin enjoys getting to know her patients over time. She asks questions to understand what’s going on in their lives and uses that information to inform their care plans.

With a background in electronic health records (EHR) systems project management, Dr. Lavin continues to be interested in how providers can use EHR systems to improve the patient care experience.

Outside of work, Dr. Lavin enjoys traveling and spending time with her family.

I take the time to listen to my patients because I want to give them the opportunity to share their stories and discover what’s important to them.
