Kara Mayer, PsyD

Kara Mayer, PsyD, is a clinical health psychologist at UW Health. Dr. Mayer provides care to hospitalized patients where she specializes in adjustment to acute and chronic illness and management of mood and anxiety symptoms. She conducts patient pre-surgical psychological evaluations and guides patients who have experienced changes in health practices or behaviors.

Kara's practice includes uses a variety of interventions. These include cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and motivational interviewing – a counseling method that identifies and applies each person’s unique motivation to improve targeted behaviors.
