Julie Lederman, NP, is a nurse practitioner at UW Health specializing in skin cancer prevention and screening exams, carefully checking patients for potential skin cancers or precancerous skin lesions. She also treats common skin conditions, such as acne, rosacea, eczema, mild psoriasis and warts.
Using a team approach, Julie performs initial biopsies and mole removals and refers to her physician colleagues when additional surgical procedures are required.
Julie believes it’s important to focus on the whole person, treating each patient with kindness, dignity and respect. While performing skin exams, she educates people about their skin so they know what’s normal, what needs further investigation and how to proactively care for their skin in the future.
Away from the clinic, Julie enjoys family time and outdoor activities such as hiking, snowshoeing, gardening and walking her dog. She also likes to cook and bake.
As I check for potential skin cancers or precancerous lesions, I talk with patients and educate them about what I’m seeing on their skin so they know what’s normal, what’s not, and how to proactively care for their skin in the future.
