Jonathan Chang, MD, is a UW Health ophthalmologist. Dr. Chang specializes in diagnosing and treating eye diseases and disorders. He's also an associate professor in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health.

Dr. Chang offers care for diseases of the retina and vitreous. The retina is the light-sensitive tissue in the back of the eye. The vitreous is a gel-like substance between the lens and the retina.

His surgical expertise includes treating conditions such as epiretinal membrane (thin film of scar tissue on the retina), macular hole and detached retina. He also performs surgery for people who have had eye trauma issues and complications from diabetes. In the clinic, he also treats eye conditions such as macular degeneration, retinal vein occlusion (blocked blood vessel) and diabetic eye disease.

Dr. Chang cares deeply about his patients and wants to help them see as well as possible.

In addition to clinical care, Dr. Chang researches ways to improve patient care, review surgical results and develop new techniques. He also helps teach future ophthalmologists and specialists.

People value their vision. My hope is to give every patient the best care and attention.
