Jeff Kobernusz, NP, is a UW Health nurse practitioner (NP) and serves as a faculty member in the School of Nursing at the University of Wisconsin—Madison. Jeff cares for hospitalized patients undergoing orthopedic surgery for sports-related injuries, fracture care and joint replacement procedures and treatments.

His interests include rapid response, inpatient/outpatient care transitions, hospital staff bylaws and wilderness medicine/pre-hospital medicine. His clinical interests include upper extremity concerns, including shoulders, elbows, sports-related injuries and general fracture care.

Jeff cares for his patients holistically and keeps their overall health in mind while treating their injuries as well as other acute or chronic medical problems. After many years as an ER and ICU nurse, he became interested in orthopedic surgery and orthopedic injuries due to his desire to help people recover. As an athlete, Jeff likes to treat people who are experiencing exercise and overuse injuries. 

Outside of work, Jeff enjoys spending time with family boating, entertaining or making homemade pizza. He also enjoys participating in endurance sports, CrossFit and triathlons.

I started in health care at age 15 as an EMT. Something clicked as I found a passion in caring for others in the health care realm.
