About

Hau Le, MD, FACS, is a UW Health Kids pediatric surgeon and an assistant professor in the Department of Surgery, Division of Pediatric Surgery at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. Dr. Le specializes in general and thoracic (chest) pediatric surgery, with a clinical focus on pediatric surgical oncology.

Dr. Le takes care of children and newborns with the full spectrum of medical conditions requiring surgery, including trauma. He is skilled in a range of techniques and uses a minimally invasive approach whenever possible.

As a fellowship-trained pediatric surgeon, Dr. Le has a clinical interest in rare diseases and complex pediatric surgical oncology. Some of the more challenging conditions Dr. Le manages include high-risk neuroblastoma, Wilms’ tumors, liver cancer, rhabdomyosarcoma, and median arcuate ligament syndrome (MALS).

Dr. Le follows a patient-centered approach to care. He listens carefully to their concerns and provides peace of mind, offering easy-to-understand information to help them make informed decisions.

In addition to his clinical and teaching roles, Dr. Le is an active researcher. He is currently studying novel treatments for solid tumors such as neuroblastoma, ergonomics (proper positioning) during surgery and wholistic care for children, newborns and their families.

Outside of work, Dr. Le enjoys exercise (especially cycling and yoga), spending time with family and friends and meditation.

My hope is that I provide the surgical care my patients need, as well as the emotional and social support their families need.
