About
Dr. Maki’s interests over the past three decades have included the study and prevention of nosocomial infections, the clinical application of novel agents for the treatment of septic shock, and the epidemiology and prevention of infections caused by antimicrobial resistant pathogens.

Research & publications
Dr. Maki’s research on the use of novel technology for the prevention of nosocomial infections has shown that the use of antimicrobial-impregnated foley catheters significantly reduces the rates of bacteruria among hospitalized patients who are catheterized for short periods of time.
